Geotechnical Services for PA/ED and PS&E of SR-91 from Central Avenue to Acacia Court Improvement Project (2020-2023)
The LA Metro, in cooperation with the Caltrans District 7 and the Gateway Cities Council of Governments (GCCOG), advanced the development and implementation of State Route 91 between Acacia Court and Central Avenue in the City of Compton. The purpose of the Project was to reduce congestion, improve freeway-to-local street interchange operations, and enhance accessibility, safety, and multimodal integration for pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and motorist needs. The project consisted of improvements on the SR-91 mainline, on/off ramps, Artesia Blvd., Acacia Ct., Wilmington Ave., and Central Ave. in the City of Compton.
GAI provided geotechnical services for the PA/ED phase of this project and also completed the PS&E phase tasks. Our services for the PA/ED and PS&E phase of the project comprised of performing geotechnical engineering including preparing a Preliminary Materials Report, Preliminary Geotechnical Reports, and Structure Preliminary Geotechnical Reports (SPGR) for all of the structures within the project limits, including retaining walls and bridges. During the PS&E phase, GAI worked on the Final Materials Report; Geotechnical Design Report (GDR); and several Foundation Reports (FR) for bridges, ground-anchored walls, and non-standard retaining walls.
