Geotechnical Investigation for PS&E for SR-57/SR-60 Confluence Project (2018-2020)
The project spanned 2.5 miles within the vicinity of the SR-57 and SR-60 interchange (also known as the SR-57/SR-60 Confluence). The developments included constructing a new bypass ramp to Grand Avenue from eastbound (EB) SR-60, reconfiguring the south half of the Grand Avenue interchange from a diamond to a partial cloverleaf configuration, and replacing the Grand Avenue Overcrossing and the EB connector from the Grand Avenue interchange to east of Diamond Bar Boulevard along SR-60.
GAI, as a subconsultant to WKE, Inc., provided a geotechnical investigation that involved conducting exploratory borings within the vicinity of the proposed alignments; performing laboratory tests on selected samples obtained from the field exploration; reviewing field data and laboratory test results, as well as existing geotechnical data and As-Builts; and preparing the Materials Report (MR). We also evaluated the in-situ infiltration rates within the ramp loops for the proposed Best Management Practice facilities (BMPs).
