Geotechnical Engineering Services for PA/ED for I-15 and SR-74 Interchange Improvement (2017)
The interchange was approximately 1.5 miles Southerly of Nichols Road Interchange and 1.3 miles Northerly of Main Street Interchange. SR-74 was designated as an 8-lane urban arterial, serving the City of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, and unincorporated areas of the County of Riverside. The project included the preparation of Plan Approval and Environmental Document related activities (PA/ED) for the Interstate 15 (I-15)/SR-74 Interchange Improvements located within the City of Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, California. The project objective was to accommodate the projected 2040 build-out traffic volumes by improving freeway ramp intersections and nearby local arterial geometry and to address peak hour congestion along the SR-74/I-15 interchange, and local intersections. Caltrans was the lead agency for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
GAI was the acting geotechnical engineering subconsultant to HDR for the PA/ED phase of this project and prepared the preliminary materials information report (PMIR) and preliminary geotechnical report (PGR).
