Value Engineering for Cienega Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation (2017-2018)
The City of San Dimas planned to rehabilitate 2.2 miles of pavement for Cienega Ave. between Lone Hill Ave. and Arrow Hwy. The previous pavement rehabilitation study/design recommended Full Depth Reclamation of the existing pavement.
GAI performed geotechnical investigation, field sampling, laboratory testing, and reviewing the previous reports. Our team provided an optimum design for the pavement section and cement-treated base. Our study resulted in a more coherent design for the targeted design traffic. We significantly reduced the volume of fieldwork and materials. For example, the thickness of cement treated base section was reduced by about 15 percent.
