Pavement Engineering, Field Inspection and Testing for Washington Boulevard Rehabilitation (2016-2018)
Washington Boulevard is a major east-west corridor that passes through the City of Commerce located within the Gateway Cities region. It serves as
one of the significant connectors between the I-710 and I-5 Freeways carrying approximately 35,000 vehicles per day, 25% of that being truck traffic. The project scope included: rehabilitation, reconstruction, and widening from two lanes to three lanes in each direction covering a 2.7-mile segment of Washington Boulevard between Indiana Street to the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway. The project cost was $40M.
GAI performed as the Caltrans Certified Laboratory and provided field inspection and testing on grading operations, as well as laboratory testing for the project. The job was federally funded and constructed in compliance with the Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual.
