Geotechnical Services for Taxiways D and E Easterly Extension at LAX (2022-2023)
As part of the Airfield Improvement Program (AIP), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) intended to improve the new easterly extension of Taxiways D and E to serve the future Concourse 0 and the North Airfield.
GAI provided geotechnical services for this project as a subconsultant to HNTB Corporation. Our scope of services was comprised of performing a site reconnaissance, evaluating the general site conditions, conducting 16 exploratory borings at the proposed locations within the vicinity of the proposed developments, performing environmental tests performing two percolation tests at the locations specified by the Client following the guidelines of the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (LADPW) Administrative Manual GS200.1 (LADPW, 2021); performing laboratory testing; reviewing the field data and laboratory test results, performing engineering analyses and preparing a Geotechnical Data Report (GDR) for the site, which includes our findings and recommendations relevant to the design and construction of the proposed developments.
