Geotechnical Services for I-10 Express Lane Extension PA/ED and CONOPS (2022-Ongoing)
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), in cooperation with Caltrans District 7, proposes to reduce High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) degradation, improve mobility and provide multi-modal travel options on I-10 between Interstate 605 (I-605) and Los Angeles/San Bernardino County Line through increased HOV eligibility requirements, or through the conversion of existing HOV lanes into High Occupancy/Toll (HOT) lanes (also referred to as Express Lanes) with the possible addition of a second HOT lane in each direction. GAI, as the geotechnical engineer for the project, and in support of the Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA/ED) phase, has prepared a preliminary materials report (PMR) and conducted life cycle cost analyses (LCCA) for different alternatives. GAI’s team continues working on the preparation of structure preliminary geotechnical reports (SPGR) for more than 30 bridges and structures being affected by the selected alternative.
