City of Commerce Washington Boulevard Widening and Reconstruction Project Became An Award Winner
GAI proudly announces that the City of Commerce’s Washington Boulevard Rehabilitation Project won the “Transportation Award” from the American Public Works Association (APWA) of Southern California in 2017.
The award was presented to Ms. Maryam Babaki, the City of Commerce Director of Public Works, at the 18th Annual Awards Luncheon on December 14, 2017.
Washington Boulevard is a major east-west corridor that passes through the City of Commerce located within the Gateway Cities region. It serves as one of the significant connectors between I-710 and I-5 freeways, carrying approximately 35,000 vehicles per day, 25% of that being truck traffic. The project scope included rehabilitation, reconstruction, and widening, covering a 2.7-mile segment of Washington Boulevard between Indiana Street and the Santa Ana I-5 freeway. GAI contributed to this unique project as the pavement consultant to the city and Caltrans-certified laboratory. The GAI team performed field quality assurance inspection and soils and materials laboratory testing.
