GAI Presents at the City and County Engineers Association and Iranian American Society of Civil Engineers
Dr. Shawn Ariannia had two presentations at the City and County Engineers Association (CCEA) and the Iranian American Society of Civil Engineers in August 2019 about Preventive Pavement Maintenance. He discussed the most cost-effective policy to prolong pavement life through implementing pavement preventive maintenance rather than allowing the pavement to deteriorate to a highly distressed condition before restoration. He provided examples of highway agencies’ shift toward the implementation of a more comprehensive prevention program due to funding limitations. Dr. Ariannia discussed a summary of recent and ongoing studies about the concept of Optimal Timing of Application of Preventive Maintenance. He also talked about the importance of geotechnical aspects of pavement engineering.
